Off Campus Access to Electronic Resources

Off-Campus Access to online resources (databases, e-books) is limited to current FGCU students, staff, and faculty. Community borrowers with borrowing cards will not be able to access online resources from outside the library.  Community borrowers should come into the library and visit the circulation desk for assistance logging in.

FGCU students, staff, and faculty must log in to use electronic resources, regardless if they are on or off campus.  They should enter their FGCU email address and password when prompted. Authentication happens semi-automatically – using your FGCU Single Sign-On credentials (email & password) when prompted after clicking on a resource. There is no singular “login page”. At times you will need to use the “institutional login” option within the resource you are trying to access. If that happens, choose OpenAthens and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Library Account Log In

To log in to your library account to renew books, see what you have checked out, check the status of item requests or to search for articles in the catalog, you will need to use your FGCU e-mail and password.    When Community patrons need to renew their items online – they will log into MY Account, https://library.fgcu.edu/myaccount.  They will use the 14-digit library number, and the generic password: fgcu12345

 Computer Log In

To use a library computer, log on with your email address, but leave out the @eagle.fgcu.edu.  Use the password used to access your FGCU Eagle Mail account. If you are having trouble with your FGCU Eagle Mail password, see more information here:  https://www.fgcu.edu/email/

Network credentials=email address and password. This can be used by faculty, students, and staff to log in to library computers, Gulfline, Canvas, and access online library resources.

Holds

You can place holds on books that are available on the shelf and they will be retrieved within 24 hours and held at the Circulation Desk.

If you place a hold on an item that is checked out, that means the item will be held for you when the first person returns it.

Audio books

FGCU Library does not have audiobooks. The Lee County and Collier County public libraries have them. If you already have a library card from one of those libraries, you can download audiobooks with your library card without having to visit. FGCU students are eligible for free Lee County library cards, and if you need to get one, you will need to visit a Lee County library in person.

Public access

FGCU Library is open to the public. Members of the community are welcome to visit during regular operational hours. All visitors are welcome to use physical and electronic resources while in the library. Residents of the surrounding 5 counties (Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte, and Glades) are able to get a borrowing card to check out General Collection books. Off-campus access to electronic resources, including databases, online articles, and e-books, is limited to current FGCU students, staff, and faculty.

Alumni Access

FGCU Alumni do not retain off campus access to electronic resources following graduation. Alumni have the same privileges as members of the public.
